Galician businessmen from all over the world will meet on Thursday 29th on the island of A Toxa (O Grove). The meeting will serve to present in society to the AMEGA association, recently created, and that brings together the group. It will also be a meeting point between Galician entrepreneurs who are taking their first steps and investment funds and international business angels who are looking for opportunities in startups (emerging companies) offering them different types of financing and support.

The World Association of Galician Entrepreneurs (AMEGA) “was born driven by the values of Galicianness, internationalization, innovation, excellence, quality and trust”, explain the organizers of the meeting in a press release. It is integrated by other existing business associations, such as AEGA (Argentina), AEGASP (Brazil – Sao Paulo), AEGARE (Spain – Aragon), AEGA-CAT (Spain – Catalonia), AEGAMA (Spain – Madrid), AEGUSA (United States), UMEGAL (Mexico), AEGAP (Portugal), AEGARD (Dominican Republic) and AEGU (Uruguay).

The VII International Meeting of Galician Businessmen of the World has been organized by the Association of Galician Businessmen of Madrid, in collaboration with the rest of the entities that are grouped in AMEGA.

During this event, to be held at the Eurostars Isla de La Toja, will be present several international investment funds and business angels networks that “will directly meet about 20 innovative projects and startups with the aim of establishing a fruitful relationship that will turn them into a reality,” explains AEGAMA.

In addition, the program includes a space for networking and establishing contacts, a conference and a round table. “All this aimed at promoting the creation of wealth and the implementation of investments in companies with Galician roots, both in Europe and Latin America,” they continue. The projects will be presented to Extension Fund, Fondo Family Office London group, Red Bussiness Angels Keiretsu or Fondo Liechtenstein.

“We are a Galician business movement in the world that aspires to contribute to a Galicia with more investment possibilities, thanks to the strength of our colleagues in America and the strength of the union that has been established,” explains Sara Dobarro, AMEGA spokesperson for Europe. Sandra Canedo, AMEGA spokesperson for Latin America, emphasizes that “we work together in this network of knowledge that flows through the solid bridge we have built between Europe and America. We will be an advocate for all those who want to invest in our countries”.

The first of the Meetings of Galician Entrepreneurs in the World was held in 2014, at the initiative of AEGUSA. Previously, in 2005 and 2006, AEGA-CAT had organized a similar event in Barcelona: El Gran Encontro de Gallegos del Mundo. Since 2014 they have traditionally taken place in the month of August and in Santiago de Compostela, until this edition which will be held in A Toxa. As a novelty, this year the meeting will be broadcast in ‘streaming’ to have a global reach.
